S2 Episode 5: Karol Sanchez x Why and How are so Many Black Girls Missing?

Updated: Dec 15, 2020

THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 64,000 BLACK GIRLS MISSING AND NOT ENOUGH IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT.

In light of Karol Sanchez's cry for help, where 16-year-old Karol and her boyfriend planned her abduction because her parents were threatening to send her to Honduras to live. While it is highly frowned upon the way in which Karol went about trying to get help. We can not deny that her mental health is at stake. Just as the mental and physical health of 64,000 and all of the black girls around the world.

The world has always shown us that as black women we are at the bottom of the list, the most disrespected and the last to be cared for, or even cared about at all. This episode, just like all the rest, is a safe space for black women. WE SEE YOU! WE HEAR YOU! WE CARE ABOUT YOU!

Now is the time to be accountable for yourself and to hold others accountable as well. Be wary of those who aren't accountable, because the facts always spell the truth.

Be sure to keep your loved ones updated, whenever you're going out with someone new or going out in general.

This weeks self-work (homework) assignment:

Create your safety network. Write all their names down, addresses, phone numbers.

Create a color-coded system of trust - sometimes what we do, we don’t want to tell everyone.

For example, I’d (Mia) make Kenny green, my mom yellow and my aunt red. USE ANYONE YOU TRUST- family, friends, friends’ family, teachers, neighbors.

Communicate when you think it’s appropriate for your loved ones to come looking for you. Then, communicate who is in your network and share this homework with them so they are aware
