Episode 19: Domestic Violence in (ALL) Relationships

Relationships can get tricky when there is an imbalance of power, by tricky we mean unhealthy. Domestic Violence is usually only portrayed as physical abuse between two romantic partners. Relationships of all kinds have a power infrastructure attached to them and even familial and friendship relationships can become unsafe spaces. We firmly believe that knowing the signs is a way to keeping our spaces safe because our energy and well-being is always our number one priority.

Knowing the signs not only always keeps on your toes when interacting with people you care about, but it also helps you to track red flags in the beginning. Red Flags are key when dealing with someone who has abusive traits. This will also help keep you more aware of yourself and emotions by understanding what boundaries you need in place.

We know that domestic violence is a repetitive cycle and we want anyone who is in currently in a domestic violent relationship to know that you have support in us. Whether you are struggling with what to do or how to move through feelings, we believe that you will make it through another day.

Please call the national domestic violence hotline 1-800-799-7233 or SAFE Horizons 1-800-621-4673 for help and safety planning
